An amazing example of an 1959 – 1962 era P-Bass. Original black bottom pickups that are super punchy. Being one of the early Rosewood fingerboard production these instruments have a massive dark Brazilian slab board rosewood fingerboard. Besides the re finished body (no mods, no re routings whatsoever).
The Burgundy Mist nitrocellulose lacquer finish combined with the Tortoise Shell nitro pickguard (which is in excellent condition, without any cracks) creates a stunning combination. The refin appears to be made decades ago and it’s seems like it’s been naturally relic’d.
The neck is something else, slim and wide with the iconic Brazilian rosewood fretboard with clay dots. Its finish is all original and has the typical worn in the back throughout years of playing which makes it very smooth to play. The profile is slim profile (0.790″ Neck thickness at 1st fret and .960″ at 12th fret). Nut width is 1.73″. Frets appears to be original as they show moderate wear, allowing low action and playing throughout the whole fretboard evenly without any dead spots. The Neck is perfectly straight, with truss rod functioning both ways. It’s been professionally set and strung with D’addario flat wound. The bass really plays like a dream.
The instrument comes with its Original pickup and bridge covers, thumbrest and its original Fender brown tolex hard case (which is in very good condition all latches work and a replaced handle).
This is a great opportunity to own a real early ’60s slab board Precision Bass at an affordable price tag (same instruments with all original custom color finish go over twice the price, check for yourself).
It’ll be professionally packed and fully insured to Continental US only. Local pickup in LA is also available at no cost.
